Consultation closing on 31 March 2017

Monash residents are encouraged to join a petition calling on the Federal Government to continue funding kindergarten programs for 4-year-olds.

At the moment, the Federal and State Governments both provide funding so that every 4-year-old can attend 15 hours of kindergarten per week. However, the Federal Government is yet to commit to continuing its share of funding past December 2017.

At its 31 January 2017 meeting, Monash Council resolved to support a statewide campaign (run by the Municipal Association of Victoria) to secure the continuation of Federal Government funding.

Council also resolved to write to Federal and State Members of Parliament to raise concerns with their Ministerial colleagues, party leaders and through Parliamentary Question Time to advocate for continued funding on behalf of their constituents.
