World Peace Day & Sawan Spring Festival 2015

Hijab-Wearing Women Will Be Strutting the Catwalk to  Australian Rock as Part of Melbourne's First World Peace Day Festival.

 The purpose of this year's SAWAN SPRING FESTIVAL is to change the "landscape" of how people view the performing arts on World Peace Day. The festival will be held on 20th September, 2-6 pm at Clayton Hall, 264 Clayton Road, Clayton. 

Mayor Paul Kotsiaris as well as CEO of the Indian Australian Idol will be just a number of the VIPs receiving YOU on the day the media coverage of the event who would love to take your smile!

This year the landscape of our performing arts will include NON STOP ENTERTAINMENT with unusual performances* by Indian, Australian, African, Chinese, Russian nationalities and many others such as:-

*A Multicultural fashion show strutting to Aussie Rock Karly Jewell, incorporating women/men of different shapes and sizes, including women in hijab

*African Band - Zito Ballo with his energetic dancers performing with Indian drummer Sreedharan Sathiamoorthy

*Russian Alisa Shine + her Oriental Queen Bellydancers of different nationalities.

*Turkish singing by Hossein Abbasi, collaborating with Chinese Bellydancer Grace Lau

*Marlyn Monroe, aka Sandy Lee  performing to "Diamonds are a Girl's best friend" with ladies of different nationalities.

*Sheena Noor  - Sufi dancer using dance to create healing and respect.

*Adarsh Nair - Runner-up of Indian Australia Singing and Dancing Star 2015

*Sajan Sree - Multilingual artist performs Hindi as well as Chinese songs too

*Anoop Divakaran - passionate singer will be encouraging the crowds to sing

AND MANY MANY MORE - OVER 30 performers and dancers… including Bollywood, Bhangra, Gidha, Garba music and beautiful Indian Dancing!

For World Peace Day everything is possible... VIPS, as well as Soul Food from the Victorian State Library will be present.. reminding you to keep the dialogue between cultures open on the day!  As Moslem model, Karla Abdo said, “Regardless of our backgrounds, religious or otherwise we can all work towards multiculturalism on the day."
