Seniors Festival

The 2011 Seniors Festival is almost here.

A range of events and activities are being planned for October, allowing Monash's older residents a chance to get out and soak up the sights and sounds of Monash and beyond.

One of the highlights is the free Positive Ageing and Lifestyle Expo, held at Glen Waverley Secondary College on October 5. As well as a free sausage sizzle, information stands and entertainment, you can also book yourself into to other events taking place during the month-long Festival.

From tennis to tai-chi, there's an event that is suited to your needs that will run throughout October. For more information, visit www.monash.vic.gov.au/community/pals or phone 9518 3585.

Community Safety Month

During October, Community Safety will be top priority for Monash residents.

Community Safety Month aims to educate and inform everyone about how they can make their suburb safer and prevent the worst from happening.

Information sessions and activities will be held during the month, including open days at the local police and fire stations.

For a full list of free events and activities, visit www.monash.vic.gov.au or phone 9518 3574.

Activation

The free community event is the first in Council's popular festival season, with plenty of options for you to enjoy what the area has to offer.

The Festival will include plenty of free music and entertainment for the whole family, and also gives you a chance to take a look at the Batesford Community Hub in action.

Activation will be held on October 16 at Batesford Reserve, Chadstone from 11am to 3pm. To find out more about the festival, visit www.monash.vic.gov.au/macd or phone the festival hotline on 9518 3636.
