Stronger Environmental Sustainability Practices
Context
There are increasing links between economic development and environmental sustainability.
Businesses throughout Monash are being challenged to meet world best practice environmental standards. It is critical, therefore, for Council to look at economic development issues in a broader perspective and to have an integrated approach that challenges the community to keep doing things better.
Key Actions
In response to these needs and issues, Council will:- Promote to businesses the application of world best practice environmental standards in areas such as waste management, recycling, building design and operation, and transport usage
- Provide further information on environmental sustainability practices through keynote speakers at the Monash Business Awards forums and the Economic Development Forum dinners
- Encompass high level and strategic aspects of environmental sustainability within the areas of concern of the Economic Development Unit
