Economic Development Strategy

Future Vision
Infrastructure Development and Management
Context
Council's support for the the Eastlink Freeway demonstrated its commitment to enhance business accessibility to local, interstate, and international markets as well as to improve the connections between Monash's employment nodes and the growing residential suburbs of Melbourne's South East Region.
For many businesses, contact with Council and perception of Council's performance are linked to its delivery and upgrading of basic services – rubbish collection, street and footpath cleaning, maintenance of parks and gardens, and new streetscape works.
High standards in infrastructure development and maintenance are critical to sustain Monash's distinctive environmental advantages to the business community.
Key Actions
In response to these needs and issues, Council will:- Lobby for better intra-city and intra-region public transport facilities and networks particularly improved bus services to service Monash's employment nodes and activity centres
- Design, develop, upgrade and maintain the infrastructure supporting activity centres to best practice standards
- Maintain high quality services in other areas such as road maintenance, garbage collection, and streetscape enhancement
- Continue to apply high quality standards to the approval of new development or expansions of existing business operations
