Technology Manufacturing Project For Southeast Region
The City of Monash under the Australian Government's Regional Partnerships Program has commenced its Technology Capabilities Alignment Project to help enhance the competitiveness and innovation of small to medium-sized manufacturing businesses in Melbourne's south-east.
Monash Mayor Cr Tom Morrissey said, "there is a need to create linkages between business and research providers to foster business innovation and growth."
"The impetus for this project came from the opportunities that will result from the decision to establish the Australian Synchrotron at Clayton. Whilst it will be relatively easy to convince the scientific community to use these facilities in the course of their research projects, it is important that local manufacturing understand and utilise this and other local research facilities."
He also said that it was significant that all 3 levels of government including surrounding Councils, Monash University & CSIRO had financially supported the project.
Project partners include the State Government Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development, the City of Monash, other Councils in the region, CSIRO and Monash University.
This project will not only benefit Monash, but the entire south-east region.
Manufacturing businesses are encouraged to take up this opportunity by contacting David Bate 9544 9111 or email david.bate@cetec-foray.com.au, Monash Council contact: Jeff McAlpine 9518 3454
