The Small-Medium Enterprises (especially the manufacturing sector) in Australia is under threat from increasing import competition, spiralling business costs and labour costs.
Whilst most enterprises are aware of the problems, many lack the knowledge of what-to-do or how-to-improve and for others it is the lack of resolve to carry through the change or improvement.
Against this background, the federal government has star ted a $350m proactive initiative called Australian Industry Productivity Centre (AIPC) to assist local SMEs by way of hiring a qualified business advisor to offer free reviews and analysis. The Victorian Employers' Chamber of Commerce & Industry (VECCI) is a commissioned partner organisation in this outreach.
Eligibility criteria:- Businesses whose annual turnover exceeds A$2m but under A$100m,
- Possess an ACN,
- Have filed Business Activity Statements for the last 3 years,
- Be exposed to an international market for their product/s (All manufacturing firms are considered to have met this criterion),
- Businesses whose main business activity are in industries other than primary production,
- Businesses that have not received an equivalent service from other government (Australian, State, territory) programs within the last three years,
