Children's Hospital for Monash

A redevelopment project aimed at meeting the demand for health services by sick children in the South East will see a 5 storey purpose built Children's Wing rise from the car park at Monash Medical Centre within the next few years.

Professor Nick Freezer, Director of Paediatric Services at Southern Health's Monash Medical Centre outlined this proposal when he addressed the Monash Economic Development Forum Dinner on Wednesday 11 July held at the Monash Gallery of Art.

The redevelopment and expansion of the children's hospital at Monash Medical Centre will meet the increasing demands for such services throughout southeastern Victoria.

Professor Freezer said Monash Medical Centre already treats more than 20,000 children annually and admits some 16,000 to hospital for specialised medical and surgical treatment each year.

The new facility will double the hospital’s paediatric beds from 52 to 104 and include a day treatment and dedicated operating theatres and radiology facilities.

Professor Freezer said he hoped that the new complex would also become a focus for fundraising with business extending their generosity to provide funds towards the new complex.

For further information please contact Professor Freezer on 9594 2045.
