Bike and Walking Tracks
Walking and cycling for exercise is not only great fun, it is low cost and can be done alone or with others.
Cycling with Care
- Always wear an approved helmet when riding.
- Be visible at all times. Ensure your front and back lights are working and always use the appropriate signals.
- Keep to the left at all times and obey all traffic and bicycle laws.
- On shared pathways be aware of other users. Always expect the unexpected!
- Don't carry passengers unless you have approved equipment.
- Always carry a secure bike lock and lock your bike in places of high visibility.
Walking with Care
- When crossing roads, remember; Stop, Look and Listen.
- Where possible, cross at pedestrian crossings or at locations where you have a clear view of all traffic and where drivers can see you.
- Be Seen! Wear light coloured clothing, and at night a reflective aid is useful.
- Walking with someone is safer than walking on your own. Encourage family, friends or a neighbour to join you.
