Roads - Stay Safe
Children's Safety
Children have to learn about road safety.
Parents and other adults are the teachers – children will do what you do - not what you say.
- Be sure to only drive when everyone has their seat belt on and make sure your children travel in cars in correctly fitted seat restraints.
- Always hold a child's hand when crossing a road and recite the "Stop, Look and Listen" words every time, so that they are saying it to you before you say it to them. Remember to look right, left and right again.
- Always insist children wear their bike helmets when riding, even if it is their first bike – they are more likely to fall off when learning to ride.
- Remember helmets, knee and elbow protection when riding skateboards.
