Procurement Policy

The purpose of this document is to record Council's policy as it relates to the procurement of goods and services or undertaking of buildings or construction works.

The City of Monash is committed to providing Best Value in the services it provides to the community. An important element in achieving this is the responsible procurement of goods, services or works.

When evaluating goods, services or works council intends to purchase or undertake, council will adopt a balanced approach by giving due consideration to achieving the "triple bottom line" economic, social and environmental). Council will take into account:

  • Value for money;
  • Current and long term benefit to the community; and
  • Sustainability of the environment.

Value for money does not necessarily mean the cheapest price. The products or services council procures or undertakes will be considered in the context of price and quality. Consideration will also be given to the life cycle cost of our purchases, taking into account the procurement cost, ongoing operating costs and the cost of disposal.
