Cr Tom MORRISSEY

MT WAVERLEY WARD

Cr Morrissey was first elected to the City of Waverley Council in 1990. He was elected to the Monash City Council in 1997, 2000 and 2005. Cr Morrissey was previously Mayor of the City of Monash 2001-2 and was elected Mayor for a second term in December 2006.

He was awarded the Centenary Medal for services to Local Government in 2002.

Married to Lorraine for 40 years, he has two daughters and four granddaughters.
Tom Morrissey has always lived in the area. Following his secondary education at Jordanville Technical College, he became a plumber and started, and still operates, Burwood Plumbing.

He is a member of the Rotary Club of Waverley and an Honorary Justice of the Peace.

Cr Morrissey said he decided to stand for the Mayoralty to bring a new focus to the role and the decision making process.

"I put up my hand because I want to lead this City in a just and fair way and to ensure there are no favours for anyone and that we have the involvement of every Councillor in every decision," he said. "I want every individual to make their own decision based on their own assessment and their own conscience. That's what we were elected to do and that's what I hope my fellow Councillors will do."

  • MAV Water Task Force
