Conservation and Land Management
The City of Monash is host to 125 Parks and Reserves, which contain important strands of indigenous vegetation and provide important revegetation corridors and habitat for native wildlife.
The bushland reserves also treat storm water through constructed wetlands and the installation of litter traps, and so contribute to improved water quality in local creeks and ultimately the Yarra River.
Every year, Council plants around 100,000 trees, shrubs and groundcovers across the city, the majority in the bushland reserves. Local Friends Groups, made up of committed local residents, have also been instrumental in the rehabilitation of many local environments.
