Monash 2012: A strategy for the future

Council is committed to a sustainable future in the City of Monash. To become more sustainable Council is addressing Climate Change, as this is one of the biggest challenges facing us now and in the future.

Energy use, though heating, lighting, transport and other sectors - accounts for 82% of Victoria's total greenhouse gas emissions.

It is a similar picture within Council's daily operations - where public lighting and energy use within buildings are the largest users of energy, accounting for 90% of use, hence the larges emitters of greenhouse gases (see diagram).
