MONASH Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC)
Council has established an Environmental Advisory Committee to address sustainability issues in the City of Monash.
After the council elections in November 2008, Councillors Stephen Dimopoulos, Denise McGill and Stephanie Perri were appointed to the Environmental Advisory Committee, and will be joined by community representatives with special interests and skills in the environment field as well as council staff, as technical support, in addressing issues facing the City of Monash regarding environmental sustainability.
Issues and projects of interest are investigated in Working Groups that include Councillors, community representatives and Monash staff. Once the proposals are finalised, they are presented to the full Environmental Advisory Committee, and once it is approved it is presented to Council for approval and implementation.
Currently issues under investigation include, but re not limited to:
- Native plants information brochure
- Water sensitive gardens
- Water sensitive urban design
- Good governance for sustainability
