Solar hot water
Conventional water heating systems account for around 20% of a household's greenhouse gas emissions in Victoria. Install a solar water heater and you will reduce these emissions and also save up to 75% of your water heating costs.
There are currently four different incentives available to Victorians replacing an existing hot water system with a solar hot water system.
Each incentive has varying eligibility requirements:- Victorian Government Solar Hot Water Rebate - Regional and Metropolitan
- Australian Government Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme
- Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
- Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs); also known as the Energy Saver Incentive.

Gas Hot Water
Inefficient hot water systems cost you more and have a detrimental effect on our environment. Increase your household's energy efficiency by switching your peak electric hot water system with a high-efficiency gas hot water system to save energy, the environment and money.
The Victorian Government can help with the cost of new hot water systems for those that are eligible for a rebate.

Whitegoods Appliances
Household appliances, specifically washing machines and refrigerators, account for around 12.8% of greenhouse gas emissions in a typical Victorian household and 5.1% of a households energy usage. This equates to $170 per year spent on energy used for refrigeration and clothes washing.
Sustainability Victoria is currently working with community organisations delivering programs to assist low-income households in a new rebate program.
This program will help low income households in Victoria to purchase high efficiency whitegoods. The programs currently participating in the rebate are the No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS), Progress Loans program and The Good Shepherd Buying Service.
