As part of the Waste Wise Cities initiative, the City of Monash has been a certified Waste Wise organisation since 2006. Waste Wise is a practical, step-by-step program developed by Sustainability Victoria to minimise waste and maximise the efficient use of valuable resources.

ECO-Buy
ECO-BuyTM is Victoria's local government green purchasing program, which works with Victorian Councils to increase purchasing of preferred recycled and greenhouse-friendly products. The program is a joint initiative of the Municipal Association of Victoria and Sustainability Victoria, and seeks to contribute towards the aims encompassed in the Victorian Greenhouse Strategy.
The City of Monash has been involved with ECO-Buy for a number of years and is committed to achieving our stated targets to increase the purchasing of environmentally friendly products. The ECO-Buy committee meets on a regular basis to assess the potential for green products to be purchased by Council.
Employees are encouraged to consider purchasing environmentally friendly products, which can be researched on the ECO-Buy website: www.ecobuy.org.au
