ICLEI Water Campaign

In 2007 City of Monash has joined the Water Campaign, a voluntary freshwater management program aimed at building capacity within local government to reduce consumption and improve quality of local water sources.

The council must complete five Milestones as part of the Water Campaign.
  • Milestone 1 - data collection and analysis and assessment of practices that influence water quality.
  • Milestone 2 - setting of goals for water conservation and quality improvement to be endorsed by Council.
  • Milestone 3 - creating a detailed local action plan to be endorsed by council, that outlines strategies and actions to be undertaken.
  • Milestone 4 - implementation of action plan, which includes qualitative and quantitative assessment, and reporting of implemented actions.
  • Milestone 5 - conducting of evaluation to assess the progress of Council's actions and ensure the continuos improvement of water management practices.
Council successfully completed Milestones 1, 2 and 3 in June 2009.
