Water Saving Tips
Household:
- install low flow faucet aerators into taps
- check for leaks
- look for WELS water efficient ratings on all appliances and fixtures and aim for 5-6 stars
- avoid opening taps to their full volume
- use a broom, brush or rake instead of water to clean paths or paving
- use your local pool instead of filling your own
- wash your car at a commercial car washing facility
- wash vehicles on the lawn
Kitchen:
- only use your dishwasher when full
- use sink plug when washing fruit, vegetables, dishes, etc
- avoid running water to defrost food
- try and use the water twice
Bathroom/Laundry:
- install a dual-flush toilet and always use the half flush
- buy a front load washer
- change the water level on washing machine to match the amount of washing
- connect a hose to washing machine and use that water for garden
- install a cistern weight for single flush toilets
