Water Saving Tips

Household:

  • install low flow faucet aerators into taps
  • check for leaks
  • look for WELS water efficient ratings on all appliances and fixtures and aim for 5-6 stars
  • avoid opening taps to their full volume
  • use a broom, brush or rake instead of water to clean paths or paving
  • use your local pool instead of filling your own
  • wash your car at a commercial car washing facility
  • wash vehicles on the lawn

Kitchen:

  • only use your dishwasher when full
  • use sink plug when washing fruit, vegetables, dishes, etc
  • avoid running water to defrost food
  • try and use the water twice

Bathroom/Laundry:

  • install a dual-flush toilet and always use the half flush
  • buy a front load washer
  • change the water level on washing machine to match the amount of washing
  • connect a hose to washing machine and use that water for garden
  • install a cistern weight for single flush toilets
