Wrap up of previous Arts Network Sessions
The inaugural Arts Network Session was held on Monday 20 August 2007 at the Monash Civic Centre. Guest speaker Christine Loulier, Events Officer for the City of Monash, responsible for the planning and delivery of key community and cultural festivals in Monash, introduced guests to the basics of Planning a Community Event. Topics included; benefits of holding a community event, funding opportunities, Council requirements, and an Event Planning Checklist.
The 2nd Arts Network Session, held on Tuesday the 20 November 2007 at the Oakleigh Training Centre, was extremely popular with 50 people from the Arts Community in attendance. Michael van Vilet from Victorian Multicultural Commission and Graham Pitts a highly experienced Community Arts Worker, informed guests about Applying for Arts Funding. They discussed funding guidelines, sourcing grants from Local, State and Federal Government and other Funding Bodies and also tips for writing funding applications.

Ashwood Chadstone Family Fun Day
Wrap up of the 2007 Ashwood Chadstone Family Fun Day
Around 5,000 families and children came down to Batesford Reserve on Sunday 21 October to enjoy the fifth annual Ashwood Chadstone Family Fun Day, despite the unseasonable hot and windy weather.
The main stage was one of the highlights of the day with the entertaining MC Alan Percy introducing a variety of community performances including the Oakleigh City Band, Tamil School Dance Group, Deanne Fordham School of Dance, Mu Lan Fan Chinese Fan Dancing, Monash Concert Band, Beskidy - the Polish Song and Dance Ensemble, the Syndal Baton Twirlers and the Tamil Australia Friendship Society Veena Orchestra and Dance Group.
Children enjoyed a variety of free activities and rides with the old favourites face painting, animal farm and jumping castle. Kids could also express their creative sides with painting and puppet making workshops on offer. Community Information, food and market stalls ensured there was much to see and do. Undoubtable one of the most popular attractions of the day was Snakebusters who thrilled spectators with all kinds of snakes and reptiles that they were informed about and if game enough could have a hold of!
Community Safety Month was also a focus of the event with support from local emergency services. A fire truck and police car were a fun and informative addition to the festival and kids could take part in the Community Safety Quiz, run by Ashwood Ashburton Chadstone Neighbourhood Renewal, to get their free showbag!
