Clayton Street Festival 2012
Event Overview

Dunstan Stage
The Main Stage kicks off at 12noon and features headline artist, Tumbarumba - "Drums Percussion Voice and Dance". For nearly the last decade this five-piece Melbourne based, rhythm strong, collective has become known Australia wide for their riveting Brazilian, Reggae, Funk and Hip-Hop beat laden concerts. Tumbarumba is a simple and time-tested formula for intense partying.
Tumbraumba have created a show especially for the Clayton Festival. Their "Percussion Parade" will involve many of the cultural groups who are performing at the festival, which will culminate in a stage performance. All are welcome to join in and Tumbarumba will have a range of percussion instruments available to play along to their set.

The Garry and Warren Smith Community Stage will showcase the talents of multi cultural groups such as Kingston Chinese Senior Citizens Club, Indonesian Club of Melbourne, Bindass Bollywood Dance and Maya Dance Group.
Community Mural
Be sure to get involved in the Community Chalk Mural. Local schools have submitted designs with the winning design being outlined by an artist. All are welcome to come and try their hand at pavement chalk art and contribute to this exciting community mural.
Cultural Coffee TentIn the coffee tent attendees will be able to experience different coffee aromas from Ethiopia, Indonesia (Indonesian Club Melbourne), Mexico (Jalisco & Tequila), Greek (Kariatides Women's Group) and Italy.
Arts and Craft Workshop MarqueeCome and learn the tradition of hand made arts and craft from community groups. Learn the art of traditional basket weaving by the South Sudanese Family Foundation, Henna workshop and Sari Demonstrations by the Tamil Senior Citizens Fellowship, lanterns workshop run by the Kingston Chinese Senior Citizens or why not try your hand at the art of traditional tivaevae demonstrated by the Cook Islander community group.
EnvirozoneGarden guru Vasili Kanidiadis from Channel 31's "Vasili's garden", will be our guest host, running interactive gardening workshops from the area.
Visit the many exhibitors promoting their eco friendly products and services.
Workshop Marquee
Learn how to Belly dance, get involved in Chinese Drumming or dance along to the Bollywood Dance workshop. These are just a few of the performance workshops available through the day, the workshops are free and all ages are welcome.
Youth ZoneThis exciting area will feature the ever- popular Youth Stage with performances from young, up and coming acts, plus interactive workshops, market stalls and a 'Chill Out" marquee.
Be sure to get your free photo taken at the "Funky Photo" booth and learn how to make your own "friendship bracelet".
Community GroupsVisit the many community and support groups showcasing their services through information and displays.
Food and Market StallsVisit the variety of handmade jewellery, funky clothing, toys, pottery and trinkets. A lap around the Clayton Festival is sure to work up an appetite so be sure to tasty treat from the many food stalls.
PLUS: Free Kids Rides presented by Transpacific, Market Stalls, Cultural Food, Clayton Traders and Street Performers.

The Clayton Festival caters for patrons of all abilities including accessible toilets and parking. Power is available at the Information Tent for recharging motorised wheelchairs. Accessible Parking is available in the Haughton Road East car park.

Oakleigh Music Festival (OMF) is a community event running over ten days and ending in the much loved community celebration on Sunday 18 March. In 2012 Oakleigh will be buzzing with energy and sounds from cafes, parks and the streets! The community has banded together to give you a program diverse in all forms of music. Authenticity is what this Festival program is about, fostering the grass roots of music from traditional cultures and showcasing what a vibrant active community Oakleigh is.
Caravan Music Club (CMC) will be presenting the Carnival of Suburbia as a part of the OMF. Home to the Oakleigh RSL the Carnival of Suburbia program will give you a taste of what is to come on Festival Day.
Running Carnival's popular 'JVG's Stopping all Stations except East Richmond' and 'The Big Gospel Breakfast' which were knock out shows in 2011 will again grace the OMF!
In the lead up to Festival Day the city will be jamming with music events all around Oakleigh. Some events to watch out for are local icons Manasis. They will be joining the ranks and are sure to put on a ripper of a show with Greek music through the ages.
A free concert of the haunting sounds of the Veena and traditional Indian song, organised by the Tamil Senior Citizens will take you on a musical journey. If you're the type who can't stop moving when you hear music then why not get down to Warrawee Park for free Zumba in the mornings. Aspiring musicians looking to showcase their talent can travel along to Annexe Arts for an opportunity to perform in a professional setting. For the tiny tots Oakleigh Library are holding a Musical Storytime with Valanga Kohza, sure to entertain adults as well as they are engaged by the wonderful African drums.
Oakleigh Music Festival Day is a free community celebration held on Sunday 18 March 2012 from 12-6pm in the picturesque Warrawee Park. Festival Day will electrify your senses and render you into a state of complete indulgence.
On the day the CMC Festival bar will be a great spot to view the live music from the Main Stage with a live program which packs a punch!
