Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre - demolition

Council has developed the new Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre on the former site of the Waverley Swimming Pool on 626-648 Waverley Road, Glen Waverley.

The $17 million Centre, which is the largest single project Council has undertaken, has seven all accessible water bodies, including a heated outdoor 50m pool in a landscaped setting, a 40m wave pool (Victoria's largest), 25m lap/program pool, 20m warm water exercise pool, learners' pool and toddlers' and babies pools. Extensive amenities for general relaxation also include a 10 person spa, steam and sauna facilities, discrete ornamental gardens and wet lounge facilities within the warm water exercise pool area.

Specific health and fitness facilities are located on the first floor and include a fitness cinema, extensive group exercise, aerobics, fully equipped gymnasium and health assesment rooms. There are also five separate change facilities to service health and fitness members, the warm water exercise pool, school groups, families and carers and the program leisure pool areas.

In addition, the facility also accommodates a specialist crèche and playground, retail sector and extensive high quality café, wellness centre and multifunctional conference room.
