GP's Give the Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre the Thumbs Up
Individuals and families rate their health as one of the most important factors in their lives.
To help residents in the City of Monash get the most out of life the Greater South Eastern Division of General Practice (GSEDGP) and the Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC) have joined forces to deliver the Healthy Life Program.
The Healthy Life Program combines the goals of GSEDGP and MARC to improve the health and wellbeing of the local community and enhance services to patients.
The scheme allows General Practitioners to refer their patients, who could benefit from exercise, to tailored exercise programs delivered by the fitness professionals at MARC.
GSEDGP board director Dr Leon Massage said "The program provides GP patient's with improved service and customer care.
Many patients are over the age of 50, have not exercised before and may feel uncomfortable approaching a gymnasium or Health Club.
MARC have friendly and professional staff who provide a safe and educational environment to introduce patients to exercise.
Ms Delich, Health and Fitness Manager at MARC added, ' We are always looking at how we can make a difference in the community and developing the Healthy Life Program with Dr Massage is a great achievement.
For further information regarding the Healthy Life Program you can call the Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre on 9561 2111 or alternatively ask your Doctor about the program on your next visit.
