Community Satisfaction Survey

A community satisfaction survey conducted by the Department for Victorian Communities has found that 89% of Monash residents surveyed scored Monash Council's overall performance in 2006 as adequate, good or excellent.

Acting Mayor, Paul Klisaris said Council would seek to further improve its performance, which puts Monash well ahead of the 79% average for all Victorian councils.

"This independent survey has some very good results for Council which indicate that the vast majority of the Monash community are happy with the services and facilities we provide to them. At the same time, clearly there are always opportunities for improvements," he said.

Council Passes 2006/07 Budget

The City of Monash's $128.4 million budget has been passed by Monash Council following a period of public consultation. The Council also agreed at its meeting on 27 June to revenue-raising of $111.1 million to offset the capital works budget of $33.4 million and an operating budget of $95.03 million.

Total rate revenue will increase by 8.95% to $59.5 million and fees and charges are up an average of 2%.

Following the publication of the draft budget, a number of public submissions were received and these were taken into account in formulating the final budget for 2006/07.
