Monash Council Seeks Water Exemptions
Monash City Council has applied for permission from water authorities to allow limited watering at 43 reserves in addition to nine marquee sporting venues, which are largely exempt from stage 2 watering restrictions.
The additional exemptions are being sought to protect valuable community assets.
" Council will continue to be diligent in cutting its own water usage and we have in place an innovative program to reuse rainwater and reclaim stormwater," Monash Mayor Tom Morrissey said. "We have also decided to seek permission to have limited watering at a number of reserves to help prevent long term damage to these community assets from the effects of the drought."
