Festive Season Ideal For Flavours Of Monash Contributions
The festive season is now upon us and Council is encouraging members of the commuity to sumbit their migration story and traditional recipe to the Flavours of Monash website.
Why not sumbit your families favourite traditional Christmas recipe?
The multicultural website Flavours of Monash enables Monash residents and others, to share in the wide diversity of the community via migration stories and traditional recipes.
Launching the website in October, then Monash Mayor Joy Banerji said it celebrated the City's cultural diversity and was desgined to raise awareness of the value that new arrivals and established multicultural communities contributed to the Monash community.
A new addition to the website is a German recipe for Cherry Cake submitted by Simone Polster of Wheelers Hill, ideal for the festive season.
Cherry Cake
(German recipe)
3 Eggs 125g Unsalted Butter 120g Sugar 1/2 packet Vanillin Sugar 150g Self-raising flour 1 glass De-stoned Morello Cherries Cinnamon Icing sugarPreparation:
- Mix sugar, butter and eggs.
- Add vanillin sugar and sifted self-raising flour. Mix together.
- Put dough into springform. Place the Morellos on top and sprinkle with a little bit of cinnamon.
- Bake at 175°C for 40-50 minutes.
- Dust with icing sugar. Enjoy.
