Termite Information Seminar
Termites, also known as white ants, can cause serious damage to homes and buildings. The annual cost of repair of damage caused by termites in Victoria has been estimated to be in excess of $200 million.
Monash Council, in conjunction with Termite Action Victoria Inc, which includes CSIRO and Archicentre, is conducting a free information seminar on termite management. It will cover:- Termite biology
- Identifying the problem
- Minimising the risk
- Preventative measures and eradication options.
The seminar will be held from 6.30pm - 9.45pm pm, Wednesday 15 November, at Clayton Hall, 264 Clayton Road, Clayton. Light supper will be provided.

Eye Health Seminar
As part of the Monash Health Promotion Network, the Wheelers Hill Lions Club and Centre for Eye Research Australia will present an evening seminar addressing current issues regarding eye health. The seminar is available to all but is particularly important for those 50+ years.
Held Wednesday, 25 October, 7pm registration, 7.30 pm start. (Eye screening 8.00 pm to 10pm), Monash University, South One Theatre (Building 64), Wellington Road, Clayton. (Melway 70 F11)

Pet Registration - Special Offer
As part of the Responsible Pet Ownership Program, responsible owners who register their cat or dog for the first time will now be rewarded with a set of special offers.
Take out a new cat or dog registration and receive discounts on pet and lifestyle related products and services. Vouchers can be redeemed from vets, pet shops and other outlets.
Vouchers are available from Council and are valid from October 2006 to 30 September 2007, while stocks last, other conditions apply.
Please note this offer applies only to- Initial registration of puppies/kittens (eg. at three months of age);
- Registration of older but previously unregistered pets;
- Re-registration of pets when owners move to a new municipality.
It does not apply to owners who are renewing a current or lapsed registration.
Dogs or cats that do not fit in to these categories are registered at the maximum fee. Documentary evidence must be provided to prove eligibility for the reduced fee.

Walk in the Park
Hope to see you at this month's Walk in the Park at Jells Park, on Thursday, 26 October from 9.30am to 1.00pm.
Pop your dancing shoes on, not only for the walk but also for a boogie with performer Paul Jamieson the Music Man. The Stardust Fairy will also be there on the day, including story time, hand painting, free child restraint fittings, and displays from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade and Police, as well as Monash Council Children's services.
BYO picnic lunch, visit the kiosk or Madeline's @ Jells.
The Waverley Netball Stadium is located at Waverley Road, Wheelers Hill (Melway 71 K6). Follow the balloons.

Swim classic and 5km Fun Run and Walk
Register for this year's Monash Aquatic & Recreation Centre, Swim Classic and 5km Fun Run & Walk on Sunday, 19 November, 626 Waverley Road, Glen Waverley.
Due to the success of last years run and walk events, this will now become a regular feature each November.
Swim events include 500m Junior (12-15 years), 500m Open and 1km Open.
Fun Run/Family Walk will be 5km. (Entrants for the Fun Run need to be 12+ years, the Family Walk is open to all ages)
From 10.30am to 11.30am Minky MARC, the centre mascot, will be dropping by to say hi to the kids. Also during this time, Life Saving Victoria will be conducting various aquatic activities for kids in the Wave Pool.
Cost is $15 per event. If you wish to participate in more than one event a 10% discount applies. Children under 10 can participate in the Walk event for free. There will be a free sausage sizzle and giveaways for all event participants.
