Hard Waste Collection
Monash Bulletin - 25 July 2006
Annual Waste Collection
The annual City of Monash Hard Rubbish and Green Waste collection - which gives residents the opportunity to get rid of unwanted household items and green waste from the garden - will begin this year on 14 August.
Residents will receive a brochure advising them of collection dates for their area two weeks before the collection. A map showing showing dates will shortly be available on the Council website.
The brochure will also outline the materials that can and cannot be collected. (See Hard Rubbish And Green Waste Collection).
All items for collection must be placed out on the nature strip, be no more than 1.5 metres in length and be able to be lifted by two persons.
Do not put out material until you have received a brochure and know when your collection is due.
Paint and other chemicals are NOT accepted during hard waste collection but can be taken to Detox centres around Melbourne: www.sustainability.vic.gov.au or call 1 800 353 233
Scavenging is an offence under local law and offenders will be prosecuted. Report offenders on 9518 3409.
A drop off service is available at Monash Waste Transfer and Recycling Station at 380 Ferntree Gully Road, Notting Hill. Phone 9562 7546. Charges apply.
- Material must be separated into 3 stacks - hard waste, green waste and metal waste - or it may not be collected.
- Each stack of waste material will be collected by three different trucks at three different times of the week.
- Ensure waste material is out before 6am on the Monday of your collection week. Ensure no vehicles are parked in front of materials to be collected.
- Using the lists, check to make sure the material you have for collection is acceptable.
- All items must be able to be lifted to shoulder height by two men (weighs less than 50kg) and be no longer than 1.5m.
