Council Decisions at Its 19 September Meeting

Customer Services

• Council adopted a range of recommendations resulting from the review of community support funding and hall allocation to community groups. These include a review of the fee structure, notification that all community groups wishing to have free or subsidized hall use must apply by 16 October, 2006, approval of free community use of some facilities outside of tenant club requirements by eligible groups, relocation as required, and further meetings with some groups to deal with outstanding issues.
• Council agreed to lease land at FE Hunt Reserve, Oakleigh East, to the Fioretto Fencing Club for an annual rental of $210 (plus GST) for a period of 15 years, the rental to be reviewed annually.

Infrastructure

• A tender of $201,520.90, inclusive of GST, has been accepted from M.R. Constructions (Vic) Pty Ltd for the refurbishment of the Oakleigh Senior Citizens Centre building roof and mechanical services.

City Development

• Council noted the changes to the Monash Planning Scheme introduced by Amendment VC40 which implements part of the State Government Strategy for 'Streamlining the Planning Process'.
• A Notice of Decision has been issued for a mixed-use development at 1384 Dandenong Road, Hughesdale comprising 34 serviced apartments and 2 restaurants in a 4-storey building with associated car parking.
• A Notice of Decision has been issued for construction of shared residential accommodation at 51 Glenbrook Avenue, Clayton.
• A Notice of Decision has been issued for construction of a five-storey residential apartment building at 278-284 Blackburn Road, Glen Waverley.
• Council has issued a Notice of Decision for the construction of a three-storey office building with associated car parking and altered access arrangements at 1 Rusden Place, Notting Hill, AND a Notice of Decision for development of a nursing home, car and bicycle parking and altered access arrangements for 658-660 Blackburn Road, 2 & 4 Samada Street and Part 1 Rusden Place, Notting Hill.
• A tender of $112,967.80 (including GST) by Fercon Civil Construction & Engineering Pty Ltd has been accepted for drainage improvement works at Range View Court, Glen Waverley.
