Seniors Find Inspiration
The City of Monash will celebrate the 2007 Seniors Week Festival with the theme 'Find Your Inspiration'.
Monash Mayor, Tom Morrissey said this year's 2007 Older Adults 'Positive Ageing Expo' would coincide with the United Nations designated International Day for Older Persons on Wednesday, 3 October.
"Seniors Week Festival is all about staying active, keeping fit, trying new things, meeting people and making friends," he said.
The City of Monash has 26,686 residents over the age of 65 years. This amount to 16.6 % of the total population, the largest age group in the municipality.
"Seniors are big contributors to the local economy and community. Older people make valuable contributions through voluntary work, unpaid caring in their own household, for their family in other households and for non family members in the wider community. The festival is one way of celebrating those many contributions," Cr Morrissey said.
To make a booking for Seniors Week Festival events and activities, please contact Council on 9518 3585 or 9518 3581.
