Environmental Advisory Committee for Monash
Council has established an environmental advisory committee to address sustainability issues in the City of Monash.
Councillors Banerji, McGill and Kottek were appointed to the new committee at Council's 28 August meeting and will be joined by community representatives who have special interests and skills in the environment field.
In 1997, the Monash Conservation and Environment Strategy was developed to provide a sustainable framework for Council and the local community. Since then, a range of other policies and programs have been initiated by Council such as the Water Use Management Strategy, Greenhouse Action Plan, Stormwater Management Plan and Indigenous Reserve Corridors Conservation and Management Plan.
These strategies are currently being implemented and will come into a review cycle over the next few years with a particular emphasis on revegetation, energy and water conservation.
