Council Decisions at Its 30 October Meeting

CUSTOMER SERVICES
  • Council endorsed the City of Monash Draft Gambling Policy, which is open for public comment until 20 November. · Council approved the leasing of the Council-owned property at 333 Waverley Road, Mount Waverley to Thalassaemia Society of Victoria for $200 per week exclusive of GST for a period of three years.
CORPORATE PLANNING AND FINANCE
  • The first quarter Financial Report for the period ending 30 September 2007 was noted by Council.
CITY DEVELOPMENT
  • Council authorised the submission of preliminary advice to the Minister for Planning, the Priority Development Panel and the applicant for 2107-2125 Dandenong Road, Clayton.
  • Council granted a planning permit for the use and development of a warehouse with commercial display, office and car parking at 70 Batesford Road, Chadstone.
  • A Notice of Decision was issued for the development of a three-storey apartment building, comprising of eleven dwellings, at 1314 Dandenong Road, Hughesdale.
  • The report containing the Town Planning Schedules was noted by Council.
  • A Committee of Council, comprising of Crs Dimopoulos, Klisaris and Shiell, was appointed to consider submissions relating to the proposed sale of Council's property at 18 Suva Street, Mulgrave. Submissions should be received by 4 December.
  • Council accepted the lump sum fee of $271,150 inclusive of GST by Geoff Ninnes Fong and Partners Pty Ltd to undertake the engineering design consultancy services for the proposed Oakleigh Pool Redevelopment.
  • A tender from Tyco Projects (Australia) Pty Ltd was accepted by Council for the GST inclusive lump sum of $182,029.73 to supply and install traffic signals at the intersection of Cooke Street and Centre Road, Clayton.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER'S REPORTS
  • Council noted the Quarterly Website Report, which showed that visits to the site have increased by 37% over the same period a year ago. Council's website now receives approximately 70,000 individual visits per month.
  • A tender from Isis Projects Pty Ltd, for the GST inclusive lump sum of $576,383.50, was accepted by Council for the fit out works for office accommodation at 295-297 Springvale Road, Glen Waverley.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
  • Council adopted the recommended Community Support Program grants for the 2008 calendar year and allocated an additional $32,142 of 'in kind' support to fund hall hire for community groups.
  • The City of Monash Community Arts Grants Program for 2007/08, totalling $60,000 was approved by Council.
  • Council voted to adopt the name 'Wellington Reserve Community Centre' for the new community facility under construction at Wellington Reserve, Mulgrave.
COUNCILLORS' REPORTS
  • Council voted to review the current 'Development Improvements to Council Owned Facilities and Reserves by Resident Sports Clubs' policy to investigate assistance in the funding of sports lighting.
