Council Decisions at Its 5 June Meeting

Customer Services
  • Council noted the Progress Report on the implementation of the Strategy for An Ageing Community 2002- 2011.
  • Council noted the progress of actions 2006/07 of the Monash Arts Strategy and success of Council's Community Arts Grants Program 2006/07. Council is also considering a request for additional funding to support the growing demand for arts grants.
  • Council accepted the Progress Report covering the implementation of the Municipal Early Years Plan.
Corporate Planning And Finance
  • Council adopted the 2006-2010 (2007 Update) Draft Council Plan, incorporating the Strategic Resource Plan, for community consultation.
  • The annual Business Plan 2007-2008 was adopted by Council for the next financial year.
  • Council adopted the 2007-2008 Budget Schedule of Fees and Charges.
  • The approved proposed Budget for 2007/08 will be presented for public notice in accordance with Section 129 of the Local Government Act 1989. Written and verbal submissions on any proposal contained within the Budget, received by 20 June, will be considered by a Committee of Council.
City Development
  • An amendment of the Planning and Environment Act has been forwarded to the Minister for Planning recommending approval and gazettal in relation to 60 and 70 Winbourne Road, Mount Waverley.
  • The report containing the Town Planning Schedules was noted by Council.
  • Council approved the Monash Economic Development Strategy 2008 -2012.
  • Council decided to commence the statutory procedures to discontinue the road status of the reservation abutting 54, 56, 59 and 61 Bales Street, Mount Waverley and negotiate with the abutting property owners to sell the land or retain it by Council.
  • Council decided to sell drainage reserve land at 918 Waverley Road and 17a Pleasant View Crescent, Wheelers Hill to the abutting property owners.
  • Council accepted the tender of Jaydo Constructions Pty Ltd to undertake strategic drainage works in the Phoenix Drive area, Wheelers Hill. A contract agreement was signed and sealed for the sum of $601,522.90 incl GST.
  • A tender by Ireland Brown Constructions Pty Ltd was accepted by Council for fire upgrade building works at the Clarinda Aged Care Hostel for the GST inclusive lump sum of $255,000.
  • Council accepted the tender of W.C. Convenience Management Pty Ltd to supply, install and maintain one single and one dual automated public toilet within the Clayton Activity Centre for the GST inclusive sum of $426,082.80.
Committee Reports
  • Council noted the report on the Attendant Care Project.
  • Council committed to the redevelopment of aquatic facilities at the Oakleigh Recreation Centre.
