Clayton Community Centre Takes Shape
The Clayton Community Centre has entered the next phase of construction following the erection of approximately 330 tonnes of steelwork.
"It is terrific to see this state-of-the-art facility taking shape. It will become a major civic hub for the area," said Monash Mayor, Tom Morrissey.
Award winning construction company, ProBuild Constructions (Aust) Pty Ltd, whose developments include the Chadstone and Highpoint Shopping Centers, Collins Place, Central West Plaza and Bendigo Bank headquarters, commenced work on the Centre in September last year.
The concrete shells for the 25metre, beach entry, learn to swim and spa pools have been completed. The hydraulic pipe work around the pools is currently being installed, as is the steelwork to the roof deck mechanical plant areas. Brickwork to the pool change rooms is nearing completion and mechanical, hydraulic, drainage and electrical service installation has commenced and is continuing throughout various sections of the building.
The first level concrete slab to the Monashlink, gym and plant room areas has been finished. Timber flooring has been laid down in the Pre-School, Crèche, Youth & Family Services & Arts Room areas. The timber flooring to the theatre/auditorium stage and seated area terracing has been carried out and the library timber flooring is partially complete.
Monash Council's contribution to the project is $17.6 million and the State Government's is $8.1 million. It is scheduled to be completed by early next year.
