Monash Wins Sustainable Cities Awards

The City of Monash came out as a clear winner at this year's Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Sustainable Cities Awards, scoring four awards in eight categories.

The Glen Waverley North Pavilion, Amaroo Neighbourhood Centre, Oakleigh South Primary School and local resident Eileen Mosden received their awards from Mayor, Tom Morrissey at the Monash World Environment Day presentation night on 7 June.

Cr Morrissey said the awards support and recognize both the community and local government efforts in practicing environmental sustainability through working partnerships.

"Building a sustainable community is the key to reducing our impact on the environment," he said.

"It's inspiring to see Monash's achievements are being rewarded, and I'd like to congratulate the winners whose efforts are paving the way for a more positive environmental future for us all."

Monash was also nominated as a Sustainable Cities Award finalist in a further five categories.
