Focus on Mulgrave Ward - Cr Craig Shiell
Since being elected to represent Mulgrave Ward, I have been working with many sporting and community groups to achieve positive outcomes to various issues they have had. The common misconception is that councillors are employees of the Council and work for them. Councillors are elected to represent you - the resident, the community group, the business - with any matter to do with the Council. I would like to visit and assist you or your group to discuss the Council, take questions and help resolve any issues you have.
Since the introduction of the yellow lidded recycling bins the City Of Monash has achieved the highest levels of recycling in the metropolitan area. This is an outcome that all residents should be proud of.
The community centre in Wellington Reserve has commenced and Council is currently working with the future tenants of the centre to have it named. Construction is due for completion in April 2008.
To address some of the graffiti problems in the area, a program of painting walls and using plants as screens has been used along Springvale Road in Mulgrave. This is a long-term solution that can hopefully be used in other areas of the city.
An audio system for the hearing impaired is being installed in the Mulgrave Community Centre and should be working by the end of August.
Please contact me if you would like assistance with a Council related issue. Together we can make a difference.
