Short Film Earns Big Applause
Young filmmaker, Djovan Caro has been awarded Best Film, for a comic buddy tale that he wrote, directed and edited, at last Friday's 2007 Monash Youth Film Festival, Lights! Camera! Shorts!
Djovan took top honours up against 20 other finalists at this year's festival organised by rollPLAY Productions, the Monash Youth film group. Last year, Djovan won Audience Choice and Best Cinematography awards for his short film 'ERIC'.
Bill Kendall, program coordinator of rollPLAY Productions, said the 2007 entrants had put in immense efforts to produce films of high standard, with content meaningful to young people.
"There was a wide range of genres, from animations to comedies, suspense dramas and music videos. We also premiered rollPLAY Productions' short films 'Withdrawal' and 'The Difference in Shells' about the journey of an individual challenged by life's complexities from two very different outlooks."
"Maddison played the role of Sophie like a seasoned professional and stole the show. Michael has natural comic ability, good timing and utilized his lines in a very funny script," said Mr Kendall.
