New Management For Oakleigh Recreation Centre

Monash City Council has awarded LeisureCo Pty Ltd the management and operation of Oakleigh Recreation Centre from 1 November.

Oakleigh Recreation Centre features a four-court indoor sports stadium that hosts many local, regional and state sporting events. It is home to Oakleigh Basketball Association, Oakleigh Netball Association, Oakleigh Volleyball and Oakleigh Futsal (indoor soccer).

The Council owned facility also includes a health club, crèche and multipurpose room. The health club is currently being operated by Genesis Pty Ltd, but will be transformed by LeisureCo into a brand new state-of-the-art fitness club called 'In Shape for Life'.

Monash Mayor, Tom Morrissey, said Council would be monitoring the transition of the Centre's Management from Belgravia Leisure to the new operators LeisureCo over the coming months to help ensure the changeover was as smooth as possible.

"LeisureCo has 22 years of experience owning and managing public sporting and leisure venues and annually attracts over 10 million visitors to its programs across Australia and New Zealand," he said.

LeisureCo has offices in five states and territories and employs over 2,000 staff. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Leisure Australia Foundation, a philanthropic entity that develops programs and initiatives to promote an active lifestyle. Chaired by Robert de Castella MBE, the Foundation has funded and managed the successful Active Australia Day attracting approximately one million participants across Australia.
