Community Care Scores Top Marks

The City of Monash Community Care has scored top marks in its tri-annual accreditation assessment of services to assist people to remain independent at home and in the community.

Monash scored 19.6 from a possible 20 when measured against the Home and Community Care National Standards Instrument which state and federal governments use to determine funding for local needs and the quality of care provided.

Services are available to individuals and families residing in the City of Monash area who are unable to carry out their normal, daily activities for a variety of reasons, including age, illness, frailty or disability.

The City of Monash Community Care is mandated to meet seven key objectives in order to receive ongoing funding. Those objectives focus on:
  • Access to services
  • Information and consultation
  • Efficient and effective management
  • Coordinated, planned and reliable service delivery
  • Privacy, confidentiality and access to personal information
  • Complaints and disputes
  • Advocacy

Community care delivers services such as domestic assistance, personal care, respite care, Meals on Wheels, planned activity groups and home maintenance. Assistance can be provided on either a short or long-term basis depending on individual needs.
