Council Decisions at Its 18 September Meeting

CUSTOMER SERVICES
  • Council awarded a four-year contract (with an extension period option) for the supply of café and catering services at the Monash Aquatic Centre and Clayton Community Centre to Khan's Management Group Pty Ltd for the sum of $88,000 for the first year inclusive of GST.
HUMAN RESOURCES AND ADMINISTRATION
  • A schedule of Ordinary Meetings of Council was adopted for 2008, to be held at the Monash Civic Centre on 29 January, 19 February, 11 March, 1 & 22 April, 13 May, 3 & 24 June, 15 July, 5 & 26 August, 16 September, 7 & 28 October, 18 November, 9 December.
INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES
  • Council awarded the contract for cleaning services to Family & Children's Services Buildings to Wayne Cleaning Systems Pty Ltd for the annual lump sum of $138,678, including GST.
  • A Tender for the Concrete Reinstatement & Associated Works by Parente Paving Pty Ltd, Rabot Paving Aust Pty Ltd, Citywide Service Solutions Pty Ltd, Cashir Investments Pty Ltd, Ultimate Investments Pty Ltd and Uniscape Pty Ltd were accepted by Council for the estimated annual expenditure of $2,750,000, inclusive of GST. This contract was awarded on the basis of an initial term of one year with four one-year extensions.
CITY DEVELOPMENT
  • Council refused the application for a planning permit to build a seven level building comprising of forty dwellings at Coleman Parade and 288-290 Blackburn Road: Glen Waverley on the grounds that the proposed development is; out of character with the area, an overdevelopment of the site, will have adverse visual impact on surrounding residents, does not pay due regard to the Monash Planning Scheme 'Garden City Character' requirements and has inadequate vehicle access.
  • A planning permit for a two-lot subdivision at 762-772 Blackburn Road, Clayton was granted by Council subject to specified conditions.
  • Council granted a planning permit for buildings and works to the existing pavilion at 618-668 High Street, Glen Waverley and construction of a new ball court and tiered seating to the north and south of the pavilion.
  • The report containing the Town Planning Schedules was noted by Council.
  • Council accepted the amended lump sum of $983,682.77, inclusive of GST, by M. E. Bell Projects Pty Ltd to undertake construction of the new Wilkinson Pavilion at D.W. Nichol Reserve, Oakleigh.
