Separated Fathers' Support Group

Separation and divorce can be a difficult and stressful experience for many men, which can make the job of fathering more challenging.

Figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that as many as 20% of fathers in this country live without their children.

Monash Youth and Family Services and the Australian Greek Welfare Society will be running a separated fathers' support group in the upstairs auditorium at the Oakleigh Library, 148 Drummond St, Oakleigh.

The group will run for 6-weeks from 6pm-8pm Monday nights starting from 16 July and concluding 20 August.

The group is open to any separated fathers with dependant children up to the age of 18 years of age who live, work or have a link to the City of Monash.

There will be a special focus on men from a Greek background and how this affects their fathering. The group will cover a range of topics, including fathering after separation, dealing with legal and therapeutic systems, and working towards shared parenting. The group will also aim to provide group participants with the opportunity to have an input in to the topics that are covered in the program.

Bookings are essential as spaces are limited. To book call the Australian Greek Welfare Society (AGWS) on 9388 9998.

For more information contact Vicky Booth (AGWS) 9388 9998 or Nick Meumann (Monash Youth and Family Services) 9561 7359.
