2008 Golden Plate Award Now Open

The Golden Plate Award is a Council program which publicly recognises and acknowledges food premises throughout Monash that are leading the trends towards better and safer standards of nutrition, hygiene and a sustainable environment.

The Golden Plate is broken down into five categories including:
  • Restaurants;
  • Cafes;
  • Takeaway foods;
  • School canteens/ Child Care Centres;
  • Aged Care Facilities/ Hospital Kitchens.
To be eligible for the Golden Plate award the food premises must achieve excellence in the following standards:
  • Healthy Food Outlets;
  • Hygiene and Food Handling;
  • A choice of one or more of the following: Sun Protection, Alcohol Awareness, Waste Management and Energy and Water Efficiency.
