Seeking Seniors To ROAR
Council is currently seeking nominations from residents of the City of Monash over the age of 55 to join the Older Persons Reference Group.
Mayor Paul Klisaris said the group also has a role in voicing their concerns and to raise awareness with Council in relation to older adult issues.
"Many of these issues relate to positive ageing, active retirement, social connectedness and healthy lifestyles," said Cr Klisaris.
According to the latest Census figures, persons over the age of 55 years represent 28% of the Monash population or approximately 50,000 residents.
ROAR is the City of Monash's Older Adults Recreation Program, which includes activities such as tai chi, movie nights, guest speakers, walking groups, lawn bowls, lunches and a number of day trips including the International Flower Festival, MCG tours and Melbourne Museum.
If you would like to be a member of the City of Monash Older Persons Reference Group please submit an expression of interest by Friday 30 May to: Kerryn Jansons, City of Monash, PO Box 1, Glen Waverley, 3150.
If you have any questions please contact Kerryn Jansons on 9518 3214.
