Environmental Heroes Wanted!
Environmental heroes in the City of Monash will be awarded cash and prizes of more than $13,000 as part of the Monash World Environment Day Awards.
Monash Mayor, Paul Klisaris said the Awards recognise the valuable contributions of individuals, households, community groups, corporations, small businesses and schools. Winners in each category will receive prizes at the Monash World Environment Day Awards ceremony on 5 June.
"The awards also promote an increase in community awareness of the multiple benefits to be gained from community action, involving partnerships and sustainable environmental practices," said Cr Klisaris.
"In this era of dramatic climate change, World Environment Day is an occasion to remember that we have a duty of care and responsibility to our children and future generations," said Cr Klisaris.
The judging panel will include experts relevant to each category, as well as community and Council representatives.
Registrations for the Monash World Environment Day Awards must be received by Monday, 28 April. Entry forms can be obtained from Monash World Environment Day Awards or by phoning 9518 3423.
