Clayton Children's Services
The existing Clayton Maternal and Child Health Centre and Clayton Preschool will be joined by an Occasional Care service in the new Clayton Community Centre.
"This is the first time Council has brought together in the one building a preschool, a maternal and child health service and a space that can be used for occasional child care, playgroups and other activities for children and parents," said Family and Community Care Manager, Geoff Loftus.
Adjacent to the Maternal and Child Health Centre is a multipurpose room that will be used for new parents groups and playgroups for families with particular needs.
Children attending the existing Clayton Preschool in Burton Street will commence term two at the new preschool in the Community Centre. The preschool provides programs for four year olds (Monday to Thursday) and three year olds (on Fridays).
"The new preschool provides a much better facility with more internal space than the current preschool and a playground with a number of wonderful features for the children," said Mr Loftus.
"A significant feature of the Clayton Community Centre is that all of these facilities for children are co-located with other services valued by families such as a library, recreation facilities, youth and family services and MonashLink Community Health," said Mr Loftus.
