Monash Residents Take The Silver For Recycling!
Monash residents who use their recycling bins efficiently will be awarded Silver Stars under a recycling rewards program by Council.
Residents' recycling efforts will be monitored throughout Winter as part of Council's ongoing recycling education program.
Contracted recycling inspectors will conduct daily audits of recycling bins placed out for collection throughout the City of Monash and will reward local residents who are using their bins properly for recycling.
Recycling and Disposal Services Manager, Joe Lunardello said that the idea is to reward residents who are getting it right.
"Some people do end up with the wrong items in the recycling bin and if our recycling is too heavily contaminated, we sometimes have to dispose of those items at a landfill site instead. That's why we're continuing our kerbside recycling education campaign and offering a reward for continuing to recycle correctly," he said.
If you aren't sure what can be placed in the recycling bin please phone the Waste Management Department on 9518 3690 or visit the Monash Council website at
