Clayton Wants You!

If you're passionate about your neighbourhood, connected to local schools, sports clubs or social clubs and want to help make Clayton a better place to live, work and play, the Clayton Community Strengthening Project is looking for you.

Monash City Council, in conjunction with Kingston City Council, has issued an open invitation to those who are ready to roll up their sleeves and put new ideas forward to help shape the Clayton area.

The project will produce a Community Action Plan that will focus on increasing civic participation and optimising usage of the Clayton Community Centre.

Monash Council was awarded $30,000 from the Department of Planning and Community Development to produce the Community Action Plan for Clayton and the surrounding suburbs.

Around forty people attended the second public meeting on 19 August to identify and discuss key issues for Clayton.

"Volunteers who participate in the Clayton Community Strengthening Project will not only help shape the future of Clayton but they will gain valuable new skills," said Monash's Coordinator of Community Planning & Development, Julius Peiker.

"There will be many opportunities in the future to not only participate in finalising the Community Action Plan but also implementing it."

Those interested in learning more about the Clayton Community Strengthening Project should contact 9518 3531 or email juliusp@monash.vic.gov.au
