Monash Carols By Candlelight
16 November 2007
The count down is on to the most popular event on the Monash calendar, the 19th annual Monash Carols by Candlelight. More than 20,000 people are expected to celebrate the magic of Christmas under the stars at Jells Park on Sunday 16 December 2007.
This year, Carols will again be compered by TV and radio personality Pete Smith. The entertainment includes the stunning voice of Candice Taylor, vocal comic Mark Doggett, Kirsten McMillan, a featured soloist with the Choral Institute of Melbourne, and the award winning female vocal group Coco's Lunch.
The Melbourne Chamber Choir will be accompanied by the Monash Concert Band and Oakleigh City Band, inspiring the crowd to sing along to the carols. There will be a variety of food stalls and flame-free candles available for purchase from the Monash District Scouts.
Monash Mayor, Tom Morrissey said that Christmas is a time that triggers a tide of goodwill in our multicultural community.
"Monash is a wonderful city with great heart. The involvement of so many organisations and volunteers at Carols by Candlelight shows what a generous and supportive community we have," said Cr Morrissey.
Parks Victoria, Victoria Police, Waverley SES, St John Ambulance, Monash District Scouts, Rotary Club of Waverley, Freemasons Monash District, Kiwanis Club of Waverley and Wheelers Hill Lions Club are also supporting this free event.
