Taking Council To The People
29 April 2008
The next meeting of Monash City Council will be held at Oakleigh as part of the "taking Council to the people" initiative proposed by Mayor Paul Klisaris.
On 13 May, Council will meet at the Monash Seminar and Training Centre, which is the former Oakleigh Municipal Chamber. The last Council meeting held there was in 2002 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Oakleigh's city status.
"I have always believed that Council should ensure that all residents have the opportunity to help shape the future of the City of Monash," he said.
"By taking Council to the people we are making it easier for those unable to attend meetings at the Civic Centre in Glen Waverley to be informed on what is happening in their neighbourhood and provide them with a chance to meet their local representatives in person."
Council meetings will also be held in Mulgrave on 26 August and Clayton on 28 October.
The next meeting of Council will commence at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 13 May at the Monash Seminar and Training Centre, 3 Atherton Road, Oakleigh.
