Monash Council to Launch New Action Plan at Annual Disability Forum

Monash City Council will launch the new Disability Access and Inclusion Framework and Action Plan 2009-2013 at the annual Monash Disability Forum on 6 October.
Mayor Paul Klisaris welcomed the launch of the new Action Plan and said that the Forum would be important for those who face access and inclusion challenges and also for service providers who work with and support people with a disability.
"Monash Council is committed to providing a fully accessible and inclusive community for people of all abilities. The Disability Access and Inclusion Framework and Action Plan is a planning document designed for making our city more liveable for all Monash residents," said Cr Klisaris.
The Monash Disability Forum is organised by Monash City Council in partnership with the Monash Disability Consultative Committee and will feature speakers including:- Dr David Sykes, Office of the Disability Services Commissioner
- George Taleporos, Youth Disability Advocacy Service
- Licia Kokocinski, Executive Officer of Action on Disability in Ethnic Communities
- Carmel Valdez, Carer and Member of the Monash Disability Consultative Committee
- Diane McCarthy, Association of Children with a Disability
- Clinton Fullgrabe, Eastern Recreation & Leisure Services
