Sky Is The Limit For National Youth Week Events

13 October 2009

The sky is the limit for young event organisers with creative ideas to share during National Youth Week.

Monash Youth and Family Services (MYFS) has announced funding of up to $2000 for young people to plan, execute and manage a local event as part of 2010 National Youth Week.

Any young person aged 10 -25 years who lives, attends school or recreates in the City of Monash is encouraged to submit their fresh ideas for consideration.

Mayor Paul Klisaris said that National Youth Week presents a terrific opportunity for young people to plan an event and learn organisational and promotional skills.

"National Youth Week runs from 10 - 18 April next year and provides a platform for young people to express their ideas and views and also gives them a chance to shine the spotlight on issues that concern them," said Cr Klisaris.

National Youth Week is also about acknowledging and celebrating the positive contribution made by young people through their efforts and achievements.

If you have always wanted to stage your own zombie disco, MC competition or theatre event, now is your chance. So get creative and let the MYFS team know if you think you have an idea for an event that would attract young people and help get them involved in celebrating Youth Week.

Successful applicants will receive assistance from MYFS project officers on planning, promoting, and executing their event.

National Youth Week events are funded by the FReeZA program, Monash City Council and MYFS and are drug, alcohol and smoke free.

APPLICATION FORMS can be downloaded from the MYFS website at www.myfs.org.au.

 Applications close 27 November 2009.
